86 gxl 13b sat for 7 years help me!

i recently came across a 1986 gxl that had been sitting in a garage for 7 years, the owner told me that it had been running at the time they put it in the garage, but they werent driving it because the bank was after them for not paying the loan on it. they had declared bankruptcy and the lien on the title was dropped, and so the car sat. the owner was a friend of mine and gave the car to me for free, although i had to pay 240$$ in back taxes...ouch. im wondering what i should do to get the engine running again, im not sure if itll turn over and i know i need a new battery for sure, and probably a plug change. i havent tried turning the engine over yet because someone told me to pour atf in the spark plug holes in case the engine is carbon locked or something. i really dont know anything about rotaries and i was hoping you guys could help me out a little bit as to what to do, ill update with some more info as to whats going on shortly, any help would be appreciated.

Change Fuel, Oil, Filters, spark plugs, maybe wires.
If the engine doesn't crank or floods easily try the "atf trick" about a table spoon per rotor in the "Leading" holes. They are the lower 2 spark plugs. The ATF will eat carbon and burn off the rest when its running. IT will smoke for a bit but then the engine will be clean again.

I've paid more than $240 on one PART for my car, so consider yourself lucky... just change all of the fluids, check the belts (make sure they're not cracked/brittle), Leave the old plugs in it, but pull them and put ATF in the plug holes and then crank the engine by hand (using the belts).. make sure you get lots of ATF in there... let it sit 2 or three days, and then pull the plugs and put fresh ones in... crank it and see if it will start...

If it's been sitting and not cranked for 7 years, the fuel will probably be bad and the tires will probably have flat spots in them. So in addition to new battery etc... you may have to drain the gas tank and the fuel line, then fill with a few gallons of fresh fuel, in addition to new tires. You may want to contact a rotary specalist in your area to see if they have any other idea's for a seldom used engine. Just a few thoughts off the cuff.

Clean the fuel line!! and stuff

First of all i am not sure about "alot" of atf in the rotor. Because alot of fluild in the rotor could cause hydrolock and it will blow you seals. Like Ak said the gas is going to be bad by now. Maybe you can add some new gas in the tank and short the fuel pump so the it will pump all of the old gas out. I don't know if it will help but putting some premix in the tank when you first start the car might be a good ideal.
