86 fuel tank

Are there any aftermarket fuel tanks that will fit an 86 RX-7? I haven't had any luck googling for any. Mazdatrix has genuine Mazda tanks, but they are VERY expensive...

Thanks

James

Are you needing a safer tank for racing or something?

I think his is bad (rusted) and he wants a new one but dont want to pony up the $$ for a new oem one so he is looking at aftermarket style boxes that he can buy through summit.

just drop in a fuel cell and call it a day!

You could get a used one. The S4 or S5 ones will fit.

Yes - I am basically too cheap to buy a new OEM tank. I only paid $200 for the car, and I haven't gotten the engine running yet, so I don't know if it is total junk yet. I have had the injectors cleaned, and am in the process of cleaning the rest of the fuel system, and when I pulled the fuel pump, I found a bunch of rust and dirt in the tank. I thought if I could get an aftermarket tank for $100 or so, it would be easier than trying to clean and coat the old one... I guess I'll go ahead and pull the old tank, clean it as best I can and see what it looks like...

Thanks for the advice.

Junkyard/Pick-n-pull.

They are compatible. The S5 is bigger and you need to switch the braces. There might be something else you need to switch, but it will fit.
