Question 86 base Restore

I started working on this car about 3 months ago.
It seems that every time I fix something another noise starts and the process begins all over again.
When I first bought the car I had no rotary exp.
But after reading through the archives I fell that I can tackle any problem that arises.

A month after I bought the car the tranny went. I got one from a local parts shop. It makes some noise but it works. I was a dumb *** when replacing the tranny, as I didn't replace the release bearing and pilot bearing.
I regret this eternally, because now the release bearing is making noise. I got one and going to put them in this week end.

I removed the acv and air pump too. The idle is rough when I first start my car, after it warms up its fine.
Any fix or just deal with it?

The rear end started thumping when switching gears. I think it’s the Diff. mount. Not sure. I'll check it after the rain stops.

Checked the compression on the engine, it was real bad. 65psi front 55psi rear. This sucks as I didn't want to rebuild the engine. Any suggestions?

There is a rumble or bad vibration in the front to middle of the car. The higher the RPM's the worst it gets. Can this be the pilot bearing?

Also my car has 227,000 miles on it. The interior is in fair shape. It’s just missing the radio. I can't find anything to fill the hole left by my current radio so it's just open. Doesn't look all that good, but what can you do?

The main question is should I keep going or look for a better project without so many problems? I’m almost positive that more problems are on the way. Quote: “I have a bad felling about this” Han Solo.

I just want a fast car that doesn't sound like a freight train running down the road.
I have some money but my pockets aren't deep, so economical solutions are a priority.

Sorry for the long post I'm just trying to get an idea on where I stand with this car.
Oh hey, I have a full service garage at my house w/lifts, air, and all the other things normally associated with a well run shop.

Ok your DIff. mount is bad
you probably have bad U-joints so a new drive shaft is in order(vibration that gets worse at higher RPMs)
as for the compression check your OMP and injectors they may not be injecting enought oil into the chamber?? try running pre-mix see if it helps try the water treatment or some carb cleaner in the chanbers and then there is the old ATF treatment.

I say KEEP GOING! you will love it in the end

Does it stop smoking after its warmed up? If its smoking real bad even when its warmed up and you're driving, the oil seals could be gone.

It stops after the car warms up. Pre-mixing seems like it could become a pain. Any other ooptions?

Don't worry about it then. My car smokes a lot upon startup since I don't run it much (only weekends.) After 3-5 minutes, it goes away.
