Question 86-88 NA in 89-91

I was looking for a quick fix until I can gather the parts to rebuild my 91 NA. Can you swap the intake and accessories and install an 86-88 NA or are the housings different in the later NA engines? Does the difference in compression of the earlier 13B cause other problems? Is it not worth the trouble?

The 89+ intake has a VDI system and some other crazy stuff. I hear it doesn't bolt up right. A few people have "done it", but it took a LOT of time and fabrication to do it. Some af the accessories may work (p/s, air pump, a/c)...maybe..dunno.. I think the wiring is different, too. And 16 less horsepower!

I hear about ppl using an 89 alternator on an 88, but there is a slight modification to do that.

In short, don't do it. Do a turbo swap if you're looking for a project..
