Less compression ratio - 8.6(?) versus 9.0
Less boost - 5.5psi versus 7.5psi
Crappy turbo/manifold design

Wouldn't you want lower compression if you're going to boost the bejesus out of it? Or is that not the case with rotaries?

stock boost does not qualify as bajesus
its more of a safety measures, higher compression still makes more hp, just isn't good for boost.
But Series 4 (86-88, actually Turbo 2s were only 87+) were lighter, and actually have a better lbs/hp ratio
