78-89 RX-7 Chiltons

Its interesting, I just found out that my dad has a chiltons that covers several Mazda cars. It covers I think the 323, 626, MX-6 and the RX-7 from 78-89. What interests me is that, isn't the 89-91 engine and various internals different than the 86-88. Yet the chiltons includes 89 like it is the same as the previous models 86-88. Is there something I'm misunderstanding about this or are they confused? I dunno, it's late and this just crossed my mind. Anyone else have this chiltons?

I think I may have the same manual somewhere in my garage.. I have never opened it though.. Friend gave it to me.. Probably just covers basics of the cars... 78-85 is first gens too.. 12A engine in most of em.. So go figure... Probably doesn't go into depth

Haynes sucks too, but not as much as the Chiltons. Get a FSM.

Chilton produced its "big" manuals on a year-range schedule. They didn't (don't) take into consideration generations or anything like that. They just compile the available info about the year models in the scheduled volume. Usually they had a 4 year span but sometimes covered more. I have a few around the house. They are great for booster seats at the table. The hard covers don't slip or tear like the phone book...
