6port porting idea ?

Combining the two ports then add the streetport and small bridgeport together.

Me and Jeff at www.autoteckmotorsports.com will be expierimenting with this.

I too have had this idea...good luck man. Wish I had some money to put in on this (not to mention hook up my own stuff along those lines).

You'll have an engine with so little intake velocity at low rpm that idling below 3K will be impressive if you can do it.

Combining the two ports is a bad idea to begin with for that exact reason. Adding the additional durration of a bridge will kill the bottom end completely.

I've been down the same thought path but wouldn't do anything more than a huge street port (like mine) and then bridge the aux ports. (didn't do it because I wasn't sure it would help any) I want to try that on my next motor though.

Jimmy's right on this one. Sure the ports will have the ability to flow tons of air but it would have to spin insanely fast to utilize this. I think Cam Worth (???) tried this once and found that on a dyno it made little power down low but the power curve kept going up past 10000 rpm or so when they shut it off. Not a very usable power band. If you hogged it out to one big port and then filled in some of the runner area on both the top and bottom you might come across something usable since intake velocity would be high. That much port timing won't have tons of low end regardless but with a bridge I guess this isn't a concern. If you have access to a flowbench it could be worth playing with in different configurations but just hogging it out to one big port and runner isn't going to be that great for street use.

Yeah, i have my ports ported together, and then ported another 1/2" above that. Idles fine at 1000, ive seen it idle well at around stock (750) but when you hit the brake or do anything it wants to die so i keep it at 1K and BLAM like a champ. The bottom end sucks? yeah.. till about 2500 then it picks up like a mother ******, over 4500 hold on, *** dyno tells me it pulls alot harder than my old 14.6second car (on stock ports). Not too bad, still stock intake box and stock exhaust with gutted cats. The exhaust note is so ******* loud i cant put my header/straight/muffler 2.25" system on there with out the cops getting called (at idle might i add). I think this port you are mentioning here Von would be awsome. I personally would runa carb on here, or at least a Standalone. Yeah, i said carb, what? haha. Let us know how it goes.

PS, this is my daily driver too.

Roy, are your ports just one large one or did you also make one giant intake runner too?

Thnx for not flamin everyone. Its all in the name of performance lol.

I dont care if I had to idle at 4k its going to be my weekend racer for the local drags. And when I pick up chicks. they did the custom interior

Yeah I was thinking of going carb because the stock manifolds even though its agressivly ported this setup will be a restriction especially with the pesky maf sensor. but I dont have money for that gizmo now.

Yeah only bridging the auxilary or whichever would be better for low end but if doing one large *** sweep would give any benifit to top end then im in.

??? what rpm does apex clatter start happenging?
