6 port question

6 port question
Ok, I've done some reading and from what I understand 2nd gen engines have 6 ports (intake?? exhaust?? both??) And these are opened by either backpressure on the series 4 engine(series 4 is 86-88 correct??) or by the air pump on a series 5 (series 5 is 89-91 correct??)
In another thread I posted someone said something about one place working on some electronic actuators to open the ports, never did find anything on this. What I did find is the presilencer from Racing beat that has the backpressure pipe on it. Now my question is can this be used on a series 5 engine (89-91 engine if I have the wrong engine series) so I can remove the air pump and still open all the ports.
What I'm looking at is basicaly I'd like to use the 89-91 engine due to the higher stock HP and a little more reliability. I'd like to strip all unneccessary items off the engine, ie just having the alternator running off the engine... elec fan, elec water pump, no A/C, and no air pump, no cat, etc. etc.

If you are going to the extent to get power to where you are sturpping down all of the emmisions and perepherals off of the engine, I doubt you are planning on using the stock cats and exhaust right??
Without cats, especially with a performance exhaust, you won't have enough backpressure to open up the 6p actuators. The 89-91 engine has the VDI intake system too, which changes intake tract length depending or RPM for better low end and high end power. The VDI actuator uses air pump pressure as well.
If you are good mechanically, you can make up actuators using electric lock solenoids, you just can't keep em energized for more than 30 sec at a time or so, you can burn them out.
What I would do is remove the 6 port actautors and sleeves, and put an air director to smooth out the flow a bit., and forget about the 6 p system.
It would be nice to have a very small refillable air tank that you could mount in the trunk, with a regulator, then remove the air pump to reduce parasitic drag, and hook the tank up to the solenoids that control opening the 6ports and VDI.
That tank would last a long time too, those actuator motor don't leak.
Geez, that almost sounds like a good idea, I may play with that for opening my own VDI if the electric thing doesn't pan out or burns out on me.
Oh, I would definatly get a bigger alternator if you are planning on running an electric water pump and everything.

would you loose any low end power/throttle response/idle with removing them?

that prolly wouldn't be too hard, you could use an output on the haltech to control the port opening
