I'd just like to throw it out there that anytime I have seen a glowing cat, it has been because of excessive fuel. An injector locking open or something along those lines. Or as simple as a failed CLT keeping the car in constant warmup.

i agree, and why i asked if it came on suddenly. it's possible the cat was already semi clogged but more recent problems caused it to go into meltdown. but it's not always the case, sometimes a failed cat will just cause such a large restriction that it turns into a heat wall.

it does have a bouncing idle that i havnt been able to track down. not to mention what all as down when a previous owner pulled the air pump. more than likly half did it.. because it was still running a regular alternator belt (i put a dual pulley on there)

also when that happened, the rpms reved to 4k then slowly dropped... first time its done that.

I have the air pump supplying air to open my ports. Its really easy to do just need a small pump, rpm switch, and one of the vacuum solenoids. It works great on the race car. Without the ports you lose bottom end torque. I have a MSD rpm switch new for like $60 shipped if you want to go this direction. Just message me if your interested
