5th/6th ports are not opening
5th/6th ports are not opening
I did do a seach on this topic, but i didnt get much help
My 5th/6th ports are not opening at all in my 86 rx7. My actuators do move freely when i press on them with my fingers. Now i was wondering if the hose coming from the split air pipe into the engine has anything to do with my actuators not working. I am losing all my top end power, can someone help? thank to all for the help in advance.

it is an s4, only mods i have so far is the intake and exhaust. the hose im talking is about 5/8inch in diameter and goes from the split air pipe into the back. passenger side of the engine. i hope we are talking about the same one.

AMEN dude, I was freakin out when this first happend, and i searced all over the web for solutions, some idiots were like its a governer and i was like, no your a tard. kthx, But i did come across numerous "3800rpm hesitation" but the description of this problem and the solution to fix it didnt seem correct, and the 3800 hesitation is merely an hesitation, meaning for seconds if that, mine was permant. Sry for the story just reminded me of that summer
, anyways to the thread starter it could be the injector plug

Do the different checks I told the guy in the thread i posted to do. It's not a complex system.
If you want to know how it works, go through these three pages:

everthing was running right until i changed the bigger hose coming from the split air pipe. that hose, the bigger one that i changed, is now kinked b/c it was not molded and it could possibly be bigger than its suppose to be but i have clamps holding it tight. could that kinked hose be cause the problem with my acutuators?
no, that hose does nothing for the actuators.
There is a hole in the exhaust manifold that leads back into the block (you can't see it unless you remove the manifold), if there isn't enough backpressure, then the ports won't open. Did you replace the manifold with a header or something? The only way to fix your actuators is to attach them to the airpump and put a device on it to only open them at 3500 rpm. That, or put your old exhaust back on.
BTW, that hose is for pumping air into the cat, it has nothing to do with the actuators.

there is a small line that comes off of the split air tube that plugs into a little "metal" vacume line that goes to the actuators. hard to see with all the stuff in the engine bay but since I have removed a lot of crap I can see it no problem.
There is a hose going to the split air pipe from the intake manifold. The beginning of the split air pipe has a mushroom device that is a ...checkvalve. About a foot from that checkvalve, going towards the exaust, you find a 3/16 nipple. That nipple should have a hose on it, and that hose goes to the feed pipe for the auxillary actuators. It is the back pressure from the exaust that feeds pressure to the aux ports.
The air from the hose b/t the intake manifold to the checkvalve described above has nothing to do with the auxillary ports opening. You could cut the hose off and it would not effect squat on the auxillary ports. Zero, zip, nadda.

while i had the car running, i stood outside my car, on the passenger side, with the hood opened and reved my engine up and i had no movement of the actuators. I always had the 3800rpm hestitation, no i dont and i lack top end power. i hope that doesnt sound like im trying to be a smart ***, but it is the only way i could explain it. thanks

Stuck 6-ports wont cause 3800 RPM hesitation..Period.

uh my auxilary ports don't open while the car is in neutral bro. I don't think your do either. A good way to test if they are working is to put a dab of grease on the actuator rods and go and drive it a bit and redline a couple of times. When you go and check the actuators the grease should be smeared over the whole rod because of the movement.
