there is also an electronic method if you would like to keep the ports functional, but ive heard its quite complicated. Heres the link:

thanks for replying but there has to be an easier way?
the whole backpressure thing, if i got a diff exhaust like the rest of the RB stuff then would that make unough back pressure for the ports to open. it just sucks cuz i really really like this exhaust.

if you get an air pump you can splice the tube to activate the ports. heres the write up:

well, you say he has the presilencer, and if its a series 4 rx7 then the presilencer should have a tube branching off for back pressure. Check out this link: http://racingbeat.com/FRmazda2.htm

like rocket said... There should be a tube on the presilencer to hook up the split air pipe if you have an S4 if not then the presilencer is for an S5. If you have an S5 I think the Smog pump is supposed to open them instead of exhaust.

You'll need to buy the electronic method since you have no air pump.

If the guide asks for any electronics parts here's a good source: www.allelectronics.com
Cheap, fast, easy, with a wide selection.

Wiring them open will hurt your low end power quite a bit, not to mention emissions and mpg.

He has an s4, so the air pump does nothing. As for the exhaust, the catback isn't the problem. It has similar backpressure to the RB catback, which is next to nothing. I have the exact setup as you and my aux ports work, so the problem must lie somewhere else. As someone said, the RB presilencer should have a tube coming out of it. You should have the split air pipe connected to this. It will be a long metal tube with a large black hose on the end connected to the LIM (if its still hooked up, as its not strictly needed) and a small black rubber hose connected up to a nipple near the rear aux port actuator. That is what supplies the "backpressure" that opens the aux ports. If this is all there, then your actuators could be sticking. Try pressing them down with your finger. There should be some resistance, but not enough to where you have to force them open. If thats the problem, then let us know so we can figure out exactly where the problem is.
Edit: Here's a good link to the presilencer: http://www.racingbeat.com/resultset....rtNumber=16405

From: Findlay, Ohio for now. Thinking about moving in with your mom.
I dont care what anybody says about this, but both of the gxl's ive had didnt have any 5-6 ports on them. I took them off and I think that the car actually runs better without them. Make sure you take the sleevs out if you do this.

Either you wire them open, get a new exhaust or an air pump. I just offered the most economical way to have them open. Besides the differences in the power down low is not htat noticeable, no more noticeable than when you opened up your exhuast

ok here it is

since u have an S4 u should have the following pre-silencer on your car

if u do not and yoru pre-silencer does not have the air tube on it then u have the wrong pre-silencer and u wont get them open without an alternative methiod or a new -presilencer

PERSONALLY if it was me if the pre-silencer on the car is not the right one I would just buy the right one and do it right..

IF you have the right one and the cars split air tube is connected to it then u may have sticky ports.. try pushing down on the actuator arms by hand (with the car off) and see if they move (yes it should be a bit hard but easilty doable by hand)

if they dont move them they are gummed up inside (like one of mine) and u will have to pull the lim and clean then out and reinstall them.. if u have to do that save yourself the trouble and buy some pinneaple sleeves and install them!!

I hope this helps. hit me up if u have any other questions or concerns

There ya go. I was just tired last night and didn't feel like writing all that out, but he pretty much nailed it. Basically either the actuators are stuck, or the sleeves are stuck. If its the actuators, you replace them. If its the sleeves, you pull the LIM and clean out the sleeves.
