5th and 6th ports

If your 5th and 6th ports dont work properly after removing the Smog pump is there anyway to just have them opened permanently or that will hurt the motor ? I was told that the 6th ports open up at about 2500 rpms with the smog pump on. is there anyway to keep it open permanently ? After doing a few mods I have the hesitation problem at around 3800rpms. When I rev up my motor in neutral I never see it open up. The one on the left side I see it move, but the one on the right side I never see it move when reving all the way to 6.5rpms. Recently I have been able to press it down to open it up while the car is off to see if it is frozen, but when I turn on the car and rev it , it doesnt open... Just a reminder I have an 88 s4 gtu with a 86 gxl motor swap. I did a few mods to the car, Nothing in the motor, all outside, The most major one is when I removed the smog pump and plugged up the holes with an aluminum bracket. After that mod after a few days the car hasn't ran right. I had to d/c the pressure sensor to make the car run without hessitation, but now it shifts and eccelerates slow. oh and it still hessitates if I try to run with the car hard

yea wire them open, but your gonna loose alot of low end torque. My suggestion is do the electric conversion. And BTW they ope at 3800 rpms. Do a search tons of info on it.

I've got an 88 GTU. On the 88's the auxilary ports open from exhaust backpressure, not from the airpump like in the 89's. You may need to remove your actuators and work the ports back and forth in case there is some buildup.

Go to the archive look at the grounding write up as far as the 3800 hesitation. This is different from the auxilary port issue.

I'm about to get my ports working electronically. I just installed an electric airpump and now I just have to put the actuators back on and hopefully everything will work right.

so it works with back pressure to open up the s4 ports ? So I have to remove the actuators and clean them out if they are dirty, and that should fix my problem ?

well unless you have a backpressure tube coming out of the catalytic convertor, your gonna have to do something else with the actuators.
