5th and 6th port position question on a S4 (86)
Alright, i'm going to be soloing tomorrow with my car, and I think i'm fully prepped. My only question is about the 5/6th ports.. I'm running them unactuated right now (yes, they will be functional shortly, I don't need a debate about wiring them open).. What i need to know, is are they fully open completely up:

or down:

thanks!

Santiago Thankie! I'll wire em open for the AutoX t/w
Wish me luck!
phr00t Here it is, I've circled the two ports.. remember, the sleeves themselves are behind the intake manifold (where the little arm I circled is).. The sleeves are "inside" the engine.

very good info here. I had just took out my acv and air pump last week, and saw that mine were seized. That's not the problem, I can fix that shortly. But they are stuck with the left one up, and the right one down. How bad is it to run with them like that? And if I leave them closed until they are fixed, all I have to do stay under 3800rpm, correct? ...later
You won't notice a whole world of difference with them closed all the time, but after driving around like that for a while, and then fixing the system to perform as intended, you will notice a little kick-in-the-pants at the top end...
I don't know if you'll actually hurt anything by having one stuck open/ one closed, but it just doesn't "feel" right- you're basically gonna have a different air/ fuel ratio in each rotor housing. Is it enough to worry about? I dunno...

Love that caps lock, don't ya???
I was never able to rev in neutral & move 'em with the stock exhaust backpressure setup, but know that they're supplied by the RPM sensitive air pump, I can watch 'em all day....

yes, let me do that for you... just a second...
Edit: here it is

FIND IT YOURSELF, or turn your caps off. Hard to read that crap and i dont feel like helping somoene that makes it harder then hell to read their post.

Anyhow it takes less than a second to hit the capslock button when you switch to the web browser, and another split second to turn it back on when you get back to "work."
Be glad I'm not your boss, or I'd dismiss you on grounds of misuse of private property. I'm not fascist... but you don't have much room to speak about how I'm an *** when you're using your employer's time, property, money, and resources to fulfill your private agenda.
In any case, I see you're not using caps any longer.
Thanks.

Removing or gutting the cats exposes you to boost creep (overboosting) which can detonate an engine fast.
It's cheap power if you upgrade the fuel system first.
So they reversed the opening direction of the aux port actuators on the S5s? That's kinda weird. Something I noticed on both of my S4 motors is that the actuators aren't managing full sleeve rotation. After looking at the sleeves in the ports, it seems that they wouldn't have to be too far out of alignment to really kill power on top. Has anyone else noticed a problem with this?
