CA 5spd has got me at my wits end

86 FC 5spd n/a

It likes to shake, like the whole car SHAKES when i try to take off in 1st and once i almost completely come off the clutch it finally goes away. That and it makes this gravelly noise when i'm off the clutch but when i push it in it goes away. I think it may be an input shaft bearing but idk.

I have done the following to the tranny;

New TOB
New oil
new shifter bushings
new boot

clutch is good pressure plate too. I'm thinkin about just doing a swap to auto so i dont have to deal with it anymore. lol

Help please!

Where you at in norcal? If you want to order a new clutch you can always stop by http://www.rotorsport2.com/ and ask Paul to order you one or even have him do the job if you want a professional installation.

i'm in dixon, a little ways from sac. i'll give them a holler this is my dd/mileage car so i need it to be reliable. AAAnd since the car sat most of it's life, i'm finding the problems starting to surface the more i drive it. i mean new water pump, fuel filter, spark plugs, wires, TOB, oil, oil filter, all fuids, belts etc... damn, i've done a lot to it in a month.

That gravely noise is likely the throwout bearing. Plan on doing the pilot bearing as well when you are in there. Special tools available from Mazdatrix make the job a lot easier. Check also the front differential mount; they tend to fail in shear, and allow the diff to pitch up and down which may be part of the chatter.

Be sure to resurface the flywheel at the same time. Otherwise you'll end up bolting it all back together with new clutch parts, and it will still chatter.
