****, you must've been bored. you've got a few off the wall things in that list, and quite a few good parts, but nowhere near all it takes to make 400+hp.

the main things you need to worry about with trying to make that kinda power are the turbo (a to4e at least), the intercooler, and the fuel system. you are almost going to HAVE to have a form of aftermarket fuel injection like a haltech or Wolf etc. other wise be prepared to use EVERY piggy back known to man. anyway, theres a LOT more to cover than just bolting parts on and getting 400hp, but you're only 17 and you've got a while to learn things so..........

nice list!

dont forget as the last post said, throw in a big turbo, front mount, haltech, tight clutch, rebuilt motor with nice big ports...and the fuel system.

then you'll be pushing out some power.

you listed some good things, most are for show, cut out half those visuals and go for the first couple things i mentioned.

thats power!

You pretty much covered it. To summarize (engine pieces anyway).

To get 400HP.

Larger turbo so you don't need 15PSI - (8-10PSI will be fine)
Larger Fuel Rails
Larger primary/secondary fuel injectors
Possible 3rd / 4th set of injectors for better tuning.
Engine management system
Peformance exhaust
Performance intake
Upgraded fuel pump
Possibly ported engine
Upgrade clutch (handle 450 lbs torque)
Better Apex seals (optional - longer engine life)
Possibly re-inforce the frame and engine mounts
Gagues (should be the 1st thing you add)
-- air/fuel, boost, exhaust temp, oil temp, collant temp

Transmission can handle 450+HP.

I'm sure I'm missing a few things. Maby a larger capacity fuel cell. @ 400HP - your fuel economy will suffer. We'll be watching the rx-8 engine (13B-revxxxx) to see the MPG @ 300HP / torque - that might be a possible upgrade.

I had a very knowledgable friend tell me you could build up a stock turbo to a reliable 400+ hp for just under $6000. This would include your engine management, turbo, fmic, fuel upgrades, and the bare basics like that.

This is what im planning to do when i get my turbo car. of course you will spend more for visuals, but this is the basics.

That looks great-
But like everyone else said, you've only missed one thing really-
Fuel Maganment- You're going to need something you can tune, like a haltech, wolf, etc... You might be able to get away with a piggy back system, but thats just asking for a blown motor-

If you want to be safe the best way to build the car would be this order

Fuel System Upgrades with Fuel managment
Exhuast/Intake Upgrades
Intercooler Upgrade
Turbo
Porter/Polished motor

You can throw the suspension parts in there any where you want...

Also, consider making your own 'intake'- All you need is a universal cone filter with the right size opening and a hose clamp-
Pull off the air box, shove the cone on the end of your AFM and you now have a quaility intake for $140 less than any of the kits-

Oh,

Would he need an oil cooler / radiator with that setup as well?

I figured if I went with a FMIC I'd better look at an upgraded radiator, oil coolers, etc...

**** yeah i was bored:p,it took me 3 days to complie that list i looked all over the internet for the best deal i could find(i need an other job).im kind of new to the rotory scene, but what in the hell is street porting.what kind of fuel upgrades would i need and where can i get them of dirt cheap.what else would i need to put out 400+hp cheaply and reliably?

oh yeah, all of the visual stuff would bee the very last thing, except for wheels.

last but definintly not least. does anyone know where i can get any of this stuff cheaper?

Street porting is where they take apart the engine ( this is why its usually cheaper to do it DURING a rebuild ) and make the intake ports bigger. Just gives you a bigger A/F mixture which = more power

Not necessarily, I would'nt call my 400+hp setups miracles. Cuz I'm not a genie.

I sell them for around $1800, the price changes for what you would want. SS manifold, T04, wastegate, downpipe, oil lines.... Each setup is made to order.

How bout a 60-1 with a P-trim? I'm going that route with my RX2.

A lot of stuff actually, but I need to find a donor car before I start buying turbo stuff.

I'll keep ya in mind when the time comes though.

I'll put it like this... say I've got $4000 to throw into an engine. I want a crate motor basically. Large street port, 2mm seals, haltech, large T04 hybrid with a big external wastegate , 550 primaries with 1600 secondaries, spearco fmic... you know where I'm going. I want 350+ hp at around 12-14 psi. Is there any way you can make that happen? What's a complete package for that amount of power go for? Thanks
steve

Of course it can be done, it would be slightly more than 4000, but when you think about it, its a little more than a turbo setup, you have fuel, engine management, and a ported motor too.

SS manifold.......400
T04...................550
Downpipe.........180
Wastegate........400
Oil lines.............100
1600s................150
Spearco.............600
Charge Pipes.....200
Haltech.............1200
Motor Rebuild.....400
Street Port.........200
Hurley Seals.......350

Did i miss anything???

Some of the parts are costly, but i can get good deals on Haltechs, any turbo you can think of, besides the T04 compressor on stock turbo. We do engine rebuilds with street porting for half of what KD Rotary charges. Injectors are cheap. Our manifolds are priced very well against SR Motorsports(900?), and i know Crispeed makes an excellant manifold for i think $550?

Hey are your manifold comparable to crispeeds? I really like the ones he makes and was thinking about running one.

If I were you, I'd buy an old accord and save your money for the fast car. If you're only 17 you will probably have a good wreck pretty soon, especially if you had a Turbo II.

Then again, there are exeptions, but it would be a much wiser decision to wait until you had a ton of money to throw into a car. Chances are if you were to get an RX7 you'd spend a good amount fixing stuff, money that you planned for upgrades. Unless of course you have money coming out of your *** and can afford high speed driving schools then maybe it would be doable. But chances of you finding a low enough mileage turboII and being the most mature 17 year old on the planet are pretty slim.

Good luck!

I have read somewhere that the stock oil cooler is really good and would be hard to find an aftermarket one that would beat.

He should not be flamed.

T04Eneedy should not be told that he cant start modifying RX7 because he is a youngen.
To me that is just wrong. Flame on but i hate it when people are just asking for opinions and they get critisized. The guy is just doing his homework trying to find which high performance parts will make his future car fast. Atleast he is not here telling everybody that RX7s are slow and unrealiable. So, lets just tell him the right way to make this cars fast. He might not get to 400HP but atleast he made his RX7 go ZOOM ZOOM ZOOM..
