4 Piston Calipers - all around?

This is completely uneducated and shot in the dark... I could figure it out myself but I figure someone will know this off hand.

If I was to take 4 of the 4 piston calipers would they fit on the back? The TII and GXLs came with 4 piston fronts and 2 piston rears right?

I know there is no need to upgrade the RX-7 brake system from the 4 piston / 2 piston... I'm just curious.

i would think the bolt pattern in the back would be different, i would also think it would make the pedal feel a little "off".

the TII's and the S4 gxl's came with them... maybe another S5 model did too. not sure. it's in one of the sticky's though.

Single piston sliding calipers on the rears... and that's all you really need. The rear brakes only do aobut 20% of the braking, and the brakes on the car are more than sufficient to do the job.

if your gonna put 4 piston calipers on the rear... you'll have to upgrade your front brakes to even larger brakes due to the rear brakes only supplying (at most) 30% of the whole cars braking power! if you put the same size brakes all around, your car will be very unsafe to drive! look at it this way, if this was a good upgrade ("smart upgrade"), you would have seen someone do it already, or see a writeup on it! i wish i could explain in detail the consequences of this mod, but i really dont know exactly.... but im 100% sure its a bad idea

well, if you did that, the brake balance would be so unbalanced, the rear tires would lock up well before the fronts, so you wouldn't be even close to using all the potential of the brakes, since you'd have to let off the pedal in order to avoid spinning or something due to the rear tires being locked up. lol.

and not to mention, those calipers won't work with the E-brake.

Technically, you could use a proportioning valve to get the balance correct, but then you'd still be defeating the purpose.
