3rd gen engine in a 2nd gen????
I have a 2nd gen body lying around and have access to a 3rd gen engine with only 60k for really cheap. Has anyone done this conversion and is it possible. Are the mountings the same? Do I need new wiring? New CPU? Any suggestions or information is appreciated
thanx

The engine mounts are TOTALLY different.
No one makes an engine mount kit for this conversion, so you need to do some custom work yourself.
Greg Coe did this by redrilling the center iron to accept the stock FC engine mounts, but you'll need to use the FC oil pan.  The 13B-REW front cover does not fit the FC oil pan, so you'll need to do something about that.
And on top of everything else, the ignition trigger inputs are totally different, so you either gotta run an FD engine harness and ECU or run a stand-alone.

If you've got a good, spare 3rd gen engine, just sell that puppy - it won't be hard, and you can get a good value for it.
IMHO, there's really no good reason to do this - you can get the same level of power with a 2nd gen engine. And it's a lot easier to install.
