3000rpm idle (and its not the aws)

I just did a book of mods to my 87 gxl, now i have a 3000 rpm idle and barely any acceleration. To go into further detail, i installed:

rb 12# flywheel act hd clutch combo
rb header and pre-silencer with corksport catback
removed all emissions equipment, including solenoid rack
did the throttle body mod
6 ports wired open
new intake to engine, lower to upper, and upper to plenum gaskets
new vaccum spider from mazdatrix

What i still have:
power steering (love it)
bac valve (need it?)

the car starts right up. and idles up to 3000 rpms and stays there as if it were supposed to be there. i disconnected the two plugs at the radiator a long ime ago, so i dont think i could be the aws. i set the tps using the check lights, cleaned bac with some carb cleaner, and resealed it with some orange permatex high temp rtv. did a poor mans compression test and got 6 strong, even pulses. also when put into gear it will move up in revs but hardly accelerate. i also tried loosening throttle cable and the car would start surging from 2000 to 3000 and would not stop.

any ideas?

thanks in advance

For some reason, it sounds like your BAC is flipping out. Check the resistance of the unit with a multimeter, and compare it to the numbers in the FSM.

You could also have one nasty intake leak. I dunno

Whoops. I didnt read you already tried the throttle cable..

Would be cool if we could delete our posts! The option is there but doesn't work.

My first idea would have been the throttle cable.. Do you still have cruise? How far did you loosen the cable?

I'd say you have a real bad Intake leak considering you swapped over alot of Intake related parts. Was the 3 grand at Idle existant prior?

no i never had an idle problem before now.

also just an update:
i unplugged the bac to see if the idle changed and still no change. oh and silverrotor, i do have cruise but i have tried messing with that cable yet, thanks i'll try that when i get off work. i went and tried again during my lunch break and now it will idle up to 3000 and drop to zero or begin to surge from about 500 to 1500 rpms.

if it helps any the car has been sitting for two months prior to installing all the goodies. i changed the oil, and spark plugs already (it wouldn't even turn over on the old plugs).

thanks again

i started car and restabbed the cas, and re-set the timing now when i start it up it still idles at 3000 but then drops down and starts surging 500-1500 rpms then dies.
car will not accelerate under load, it will go all the way to redline but will barely accelerate even with the pedal to the ground.

please help

you have a bigass intake leak.

find it.

as far as the accelleration issues go, do you mean the engine revs but the car doesn't accellerate? is your clutch slipping?

update:
i checked for error codes on ecu, and got a code for the tps. i reset the tps now it idles at 900, but keeps surging to 1500, like brrooobrrrooobrrooo.....
could tps be bad? would tps cause it to surge?

also i have a tII transmission w/ act hd clutch/12# rb flywheel combo and i am using an automatic n/a driveshaft to n/a rear (temporary, waiting for redline rear end gear oil for my tII rear), i think this may be the reason for the lack of power under acceleration, because the driveshaft doesn't go all the way into the transmission. i tried slipping the clutch at 3000 and the car lurched forward like it was going to accelerate but then bogged down...

any ideas?

TPS is probably bugged up, to cause the BRAP BRAP. Try a search on Brap.
