3 holes on bottom of S4 AFM

Does anyone know what the 3 holes on the bottom of the AFM is for?
On the 88SE that I have there are screws in the holes but on the 87 T2 that I just got there was just silicone in the holes and the throttlebody cleaner I sprayed made the silicone fall out of the holes. Now i'm not sure if I should seal them back up or not. Any help from you guys would be appreciated.

Someone screwed with your AFM and tried to plug it with RTV?
Got a pic?

Sorry I don't have a picture, but its not like they drilled holes in it or something just seems like it is missing 3 screws and they put rtv to seal the holes.
I just got the car about a month ago so I don't know the history of it. It wouldn't hold an idle so I just decided to take it all apart for the basic maintenance stuff like PD, vacuum hoses, TID and so on. I found quite alot of cracked rubber and a leaking water pump. Lots of work ahead but some how lots of fun also.
