Hey, whatever works. Some people can get away with less octane, while others need more. A lot of it is based on driving habits, engine condition, and atmospheric conditions.

That's interesting, I wonder if I got some bad info on the S5 octane requirements? What octane rating does your US 1991 manual recommend?

Mine doesn't have a manual, unfortunately. But I'm thinking I may switch to mid in the coming months anyway. It gets bloody hot n humid here during the summer, and the extra margin may be needed.

Well for those of you all that get bad mileage: O2 sensor, plugs, plug wires, fuel filter, fuel injector cleaner and some other things you should look at.

My 1991 manual has a recommendation of 87 octane or higher. So I guess you got some bad info.

Thanks Jerry, apparently I need to do a better job of filtering my source data from the internet.

Sorry for the misinformation.

thanks
I get anywhere from 8 to 20mpg depending on how I'm driving it and what the driving conditions are. ^_^ Average is around 15 or so in Seattle traffic .

I'll let you know what kind of gas mileage I get sometime after I manage to get my RX out of my friend's yard... shouldn't take me more than a few days, seeign as I usually go through 2/3 of a tank in about 2-3 days
