There has to be some sort of middle ground between big hunks of buildup and driving the crap out of the car. Maybe it's once a drive, maybe it's a couple minuites a drive. It wouldn't make sense for ony large portrusions to form in sort periods of time. (otherwise reving it hard to clear them wouldn't be good)

Personally I redline it a fair bit. I didn't get the car to not have any fun with it.

This is incorrect, I have a the August 1989 edition of Road and Track right in front of me that test the 1989 GTUs and it is no where close to the TII as far as performance goes here is what it states in the article
0-60 8.6 sec
0-1/4 mile 16.7 at 84.5mph
Top speed est 130mph
skid pad 0.81g
Slalom 63.8 mph
curb weight 2775lb
test weight 2925lb
In the side bar of the same article is has the 1989 TII as
0-60 6.3 sec
0-1/4 mile 15.1 at 93.5mph

I don't remember that article, but they are about 250lbs heavy on the GTUs (in fact almost what C&D weighed for a 88 'vert). What options did they list, that jammed the weight up so much?

Ice, it does not list anything out of the ordinary I guess it was not even available with ABS. I'll try and copy the article if you want me to send it to you, the only thing is the mag is in mine condition and I don't want to bend it up for the copy machine. I won this off of ebay a while back. I also have a test on the 87 TII and the 0-60 was 6.7 and after 50K miles (long term test) the 0-60 dropped to 6.4

Whoa guys hold the phone...
The '90 "GTU" I just wrecked had LSD. The guy that had it before me said it was a GTU even though he had it painted over. Do not tell me that I hit that pole with a GTUs. I know it had LSD because of the two tread marks when I burned rubber. I had it checked out but suspension people and they said it was LSD. The car was full stock save the APC cone intake. Give me feed back please.

Well this LSD has been beaten to death anyway, so I don't see the harm in wasting time to do it again.

The 89-90 GTU did not come with a LSD from the factory. But that doesn't mean that someone (be it a dealer or shop or previous owner) didn't swap one in. They are reasonably cheap (I have seen brand new LSD diffs for as little as $250 online) and very easy to do if you swap the whole assembly.

It also doesn't mean you just don't have poor traction on both rear tires and can spin both when taking off in a straight line. I can light up both rear tires on my neighbors 89 GTU and it most definitely does not have an LSD. A real test is to see if you can lock the Diff up while going around a corner and leave two tire trails then.

It also doesn't mean that the shop you took it too really knew what they were doing. The fluid type LSD found in a the GTUs and T2 series 5 cars is difficult to test for as the engagement is very slow compared to a clutch type or Torsen type.

With the rear end in the air you would have to quickly turn one wheel back and forth several times before the opposite wheel will lock in and start moving the same direction. The fluid has to heat up enough to lock the plates up on the LSD diff.

Well thats cool I didn't know that. I guess it really doesn't matter now anymore since I wrecked the car the other day. Thanks for the info on it though. But yeah I could do the lock up around the corner and leave the two tire marks. But you could argue that you can do that with good brakes as well. So I'm not positive what your saying about it. But thanks for the info. I have actually learned alot from it.
