2nd gen alternators--forget the fd change

Guys,
Ohio alternators now has a unit for our second gens--all you have to do is add washers. If you need alot of power--
part # 7780-185 185 amps 210 peak
thats double almost a fd swap and less work.

If its under 180 then thats awesome. The FD alt isn't a lot of work its just two wires and a plug. And one larger ring connector AT MOST. the S5's take it directly no work.

The FD alternator puts out 100amps. The FD only comes in Turbo as far as I know.

And from the thread title and original post, it doesn't look like this is for 2 FC alternators, I think he is trying to say that they make a stock FC alternator with 185 amps instead of 80.

price is 399.00
and its for a replacement alternator--not 2--
A 100 amp fd alternator want do **** if you have a serious sound system, and like to drive at night.
Also at idle its 65 amps--not many alternators can do that
its pricey--but well worth it,I called the guy--got the part # than found a contact that sells it.
Tweeters ...........

if tweeter sells it for that then you can prolly get it cheaper somewhere else. go to any car stereo shop and most can ohio generator stuff or something simiilar. stinger sells one thats a little more expensive but its still made by ohio(they just slap their own name on it. i think a company called xs power makes one too.

who drives a sport car with 500lbs of stereo equipment? i'm thinking that is more for a truck or SUV than for an RX7, it may output twice what the FD can if the figures are even accurate... but it also loads the alternator more which bogs the engine down more, it costs twice as much, rigs in a bit crappier i'm sure...

am i nuts for thinking this thread was a waste of time?

Im with Karak, thats almost overkill. I doubt any of us are bumping the biggest system ever. I rather have my FC alternator rebuilt to run 100 amps, probably wouldn't cost half as much. FD alt is really nice if you want just a plain upgrade that will always do the job.

I rather go FD alt.
