Red face 2nd gen. 89-91 rear hatch replacement

I've been living with the worn out hatch struts on my 89 GTUs b/c I haven't been able to find anyway to replace them. Strong Arm only makes them for the 86-88 rx7 and the Mazda dealer wants $250 a piece!!! Does anyone know where I can get replacements or someone who can reseal the old ones or even adapt a different strut to this car? Any help would be greatly appreciated...

You can always try used. Taking a chance on a $20 of used struts is better than getting reamed in the butt by Mazda.

Check on eBay. I could have sworn I saw a set for sale.

why don't S4 struts fit the S5? I'm going to do some measuring and stuff when I get home as I have both.

Have you tried the simple stuff? Like autozone?

the S4 ones should work...The lifts are the same--except on the S4 they have the light that is held onto the lift... I doubt the lifts come with a new light so I would get those--unless the price is out the ARSSS!!
What is the web site or contact #, I would like to replace mine with NEW ones...
None of the stores here even carry them in their store or in their catalogs!!

well folks....sorry for the long delay but I did find a solution. In my first post I incorrectly stated that StrongArm makes new struts for the 86-88 rx7. Actually the only ones they make are for pre-86 rx7's. Anyway, Sachs #SG103002, which is for a Mercedes will fit with a very small amount of mods. If anyone needs help or wants to know more you can email me at dbkolodny@yahoo.com. Thanks for everyones help!!
