hey i know this sounds stupid, but when i really step on the gas in 1st gear then go to shift into 2nd, it gives me a loud grind sound. it only does it when i shift at high rpms. now, the stupid thing is, i filled the tranny fluid and put solid tranny mounts on it b4 i put the car up for winter, and put new shifter bushings in march 07. i doubt its my tranny, but i'm left without a clue. any help or suggestions would be appreiacated.

 

2nd gear synchro is wearing out. The NA tranny has notoriously weak synchros. If you're lucky, it won't get any worse for awhile, and you can avoid rebuilding/replacing.

 

I've been grinding 3rd at high rpms since 2001, my latest does it in second sometimes, I wouldnt sweat it too much. I would just try not to grind it too much, run good fluid and forget about it. Even if you need another tranny down the road, they are everywhere cheap.

 

This Proofs my Friend willow is a noob! I told him this and his like "Guy, Stop Shifting Fast" STFU! I knew there was something wrong. you're not the only guy, this happens to me too.

 

syncros failing but can still last a long time drive the **** out of her and have fun...
