2nd alternators in 2 months
Hey everyone,
I'm in need of a little help. In January, my '88 convertible flooded due to the excess rain here in Los Angeles. The water inside the car killed the ECU. I had the ECU replaced with an ECU from a parts car and had the alternator replaced from the advice of my mechanic. I've had nothing but trouble since. The first alternator died 2 weeks after install and tonight, the second alternator died after a month and a half. Could the alternator problems be associated with the replacement ECU. I know the ECU unit is the exact model used for my year and type, so it should be the correct model. Perhaps my mechanic is using shotty refurbished alternators, but has anyone heard of this happening before?
Any help is appreciated. I'd just like to get some feedback before I head to the parts store and buy a third alternator.

i had huge alt. probs with mine and all it needed was a new ground wire
its the big wire on the back and it runs through the loom
just rewire a new ground and it might fix it
it worked on mine

never buy those reman things thier ****, they use same failure prone things so its not beneficial to use them. our shop gets so many almost new alternators that have shitty componets find a reputable rebuild shop
