250HP too much for an 86 n/a??

My goal for my 86 GXL is to get it to 200 horsepower without turbo or supercharging it. Once I get to 200, I want to get a 50 or 75 shot of nos. Will my stock tranny be able to handle this much power? Of course I'll have an aftermarket clutch included in my mods. Let me know what you guys can tell me about this. Anyone here have a n/a with over 200hp? I'm kinda interested in what mods you did to get that.
Also someone tried to steal my car tonight...didn't work though....I was about 15 feet away.

first of all, It will be a pain in the *** to get to that power, not to mention expensive.

And... NO your tranny will not be able to handle that power for very long. You will want a TII tranny, light flywheel and race clutch

It won't be hideously hard or expensive to get that power, but it won't be easy. You'll want a Series 5 (89-91) motor, intake, exhaust, mild porting, and ECU. That should work.

I'm also planning a FC3S that'll put out 240+rwhp. I plan to get the peripheral port, weber 48mm(mod to 51mm), t2 tranny, side housing clearance, exhaust passage block, hardened stationary gear. balance all the rotating masses, lightened drive shaft, light flywheel, 6 puck clutch. I think that should do the job and daily drivable.

IMO is VERY possible, and if you use a 4 port engine....EVEN BETTER. You probbaly need 89+ rotors/intake manifold (if staying with the 6port engine). Going with carbs will be cheaper but a halltech will give you more control and a base for future mods (turbo, NOS, etc). I've seen many-many 1st gen with 4 ports engines in the mid/low 13's, granted fuel consumption should be like 5MPG!!

BTW - Torque breaks trannys not HP...and of course how you treat them!!

I dyno'd 210hp at the rear wheels, so figure 250 at the crank. The stock NA tranny is holding up, it had 142,000 miles on it when I added the blower, and I'm at 169,000 now. The clutch has been another matter, I strongly suggest the ACT puck clutch.
