With enough demand - this could happen in mid 2004:
A renesis swap kit for FC's, with the 6 speed tranny and the electronics package for around $4000 US.

Just a rumor - I can't confirm it, but if it comes true, I'd rather spend $5000 on a swap than buy some new jelly bean econo-dog.

and then engine mounts, exhaust systems to fit, tranny mounts, drivetrain swaps.... its gonna cost way more that $4k total, Look at it as a cosmo swap, only not a cosmo.

Nah, it be sweet though. My lousy estimate for the 6sp alone is $1500. ECU @ $1000. Exhaust system @ $800, custom motor & tranny mts another $200? Renesis engine, name your price. For sure prices will be better at the wreckyard.

I wouldn't be suprised if the Renesis uses the same bolt pattern as the FC3S engine. After all, it is a 13B engine and all current and past 13B engines have had the same bolt pattern.

why not just figure out how they set up the 250hp engine and do that i mean its still a 1.3l so its something they did with injectors or how the exhaust is set up i remember reading they turned the engine or something and it made a more free flowing exhaust i believe if u got how it was set up in a manual from mazda u can figure out what they did to make the hp

Dude, it's a competley different engine. For one, it has side exhaust ports instead of peripheral exhaust ports.

The induction system has also been revamped, increased port flow capacity, not much port overlap, etc.

You can't just take a 13B and "do stuff" to make it like a RENESIS.

i think that the intake, exhaust, rotors, and pogramming have more of a part to do with the power than the port setup. the side exhaust port just increases fuel economy. also due to the fact that centripetal force is playing a smaller part int he expulsion of the exhaust gases, i believe that fuel wont be the only thing spun into he firing chamber for a second run.

from what i read a while ago, the intake manifold on the renesis actually pauses the air before it is pulled into the combustion chamber, increasing the velocity of the intake pulse.

also a HUGE part of the power is in the rotors. they have a higher compression and are lighter than previous rotors. kep in mind that the rotary is thermally inefficient (cant remember if thats the right term) but anyways this inefficiency is greatly reduced by increasing compression.

the 26B has a compression ratio of 12:1 and puts out 175hp/rotor compared to the typical 13B PP motor with a average between 125-150hp/rotor

put a PP on a renesis and i suspect the power output would be similar to that of the 26B of the later year

and yes you can take a 13B ad "do stuff" to it to make it a renesis. you just have to be really good at "doing stuff"

hahaha, you said PP. I've seen a few cut aways of that motor. By the time you *made* it work, it'd been much easier to just swap the motor.
