2500 rpm startup, cold or warm

hey guys. My car seems to start up at 2500 rpm no matter if its cold or warm. Is there any way to stop this? i've adjusted the idle, the idle mixture, tps, and i got an engine rebuild about 2 months ago. Thanks guys

Just tooo easy to answer. The prime player in the high rpm startup is the water temp switch on the bottom left of the radiator. When the water is cold, there is a circuit made b/t the two bullet connectors on the switch. As the water warms up, the circuit is broken inside the water temp switch. I suggest your water temp switch is busted inside or you have a continuous dead short to groung on the wire to the ECU. To prove that, just reach down and pull both the bullet connectors off the water temp switch on the bottom left side of the radiator. Start the car and write back your results.Please.

Step on the gas pedal a bit and it drops back down.

I think I got my wires in my head backwards when I described the water temp switch. Works just the opposite. Closed circuit when warm, open when cold. I've gotta rethink this. P.S is the water thermo switch on the back of your water pump housing on good????? Take a look.

I'll try it tomorrow, i thought that was the 3000rpm? that's a different issue. I mean the car used to start up at like 750 rpm SOLID. i adjusted the idle, and set the idle mixture properly, and then it started idling at 2500 for the first 10-20 seconds.

Should have been 3000 rpm for seventeen seconds when the water is cold. If the Air Bypass Solenoid goes **** up(or the plug is off), then the bac has to do the job by itself, which results in a lower rpm like 2500 or there abouts. Only when the car is cold though. If the wires are on the water temp swithch on the bottom of the radiator, I'd suspect the Air Bypass Solenoid.........but only when the car is cold. No idea right now why you would get a high rpms at any temperature.......unless the thermowax and the fast idle cam are not rigged just right. Maybe the cam is riding on the roll pin just a bit and then is falling off the roll pin after a brief running of the engine. Almost have to be there to hear and see. Wild *** guess might say a sticking throttle linkage that could use some lubricant.
