2 issues with 1991 convertible

Okay, I have two problems that are driving me crazy.

First one is that it had flooded three times recently. I drive it for 20 miles or so. Next time it starts right up. Next time it almost starts and then floods. I have had to go thru the whole nine yards (not just pulling the fuse but the plugs) To me, it sounds like the injectors are crap. Now, There is a local rotary specialist that says that they have a 3 step fuel injection cleaning which includes the tank, the manifold, rails and all that. And that they have had that work almost all the time is these cases. It's 120.00. Is this legit or a scam.

Second, When I drive the car for a while, like 15-20 miles or so, or I let it idle for a long period of time (5-10 minutes) The temp gauge goes way up. If I am driving and I hit the accelerator, It drops immediately quite a bit. The top radiator hose gets hot so I assume that the thermostat is opening (correct, I think) So, where should I go next. The add coolant light intermittedly comes on but the coolant level is fine and it looks good. Fan clutch? Radiator? Any help given is appreciated.

Take a look at this site for inexpensive injector cleaning. There have been multiple positive coments from Forum memebrs. I have not ued 'em but intend to have mine done there this winter while she is garaged.

Your hunch about leaky injector(s) may be right on. But spending 120 for a complete fuel system cleaning may be over kill. Great idea tho for cars that have sat unused for a long time. Systen cleaning will remove varnish residues associated with stale gas.

for the overheating problem, I would be looking at the fan clutch, or that the fan shroud and/or lower engine cover has been removed.

Okay.

Anyone heard of this. They want 120.00. Is this worthwhile or a bunch of crap.

Today, when I went back to it after 15 minutes or so parked and off, There was some pressure built up and the upper radiator hose was sucked in, like the air had been sucked out. So now what. Clutch on fan not working, bad thermo or what. Coolant looks good and level is good. The coolant light comes on intermittently and the check engine light periodically. When the check engine light comes on, if I accelerate and let off the gas it goes off. I know this is kind of wordy but I wanted to give a good explanation. Any help appreciated.

sounds like your rad fan isnt putting enough air through the radiator, and when it sits around, its not cooling enough. But then when you drive, and let off the gas, air flows through and cools it down. Just a guess though.
