1989 turbo.....

hello....im new to this Rx7 forum....i just got a 1989 Turbo FC.. street ported engine...stock turbo only 12xxx on the engine. the guy that sold it said he didnt know how much boost he could use with this engine... i dont wana blow it up! im gona get all the MODS it has on it so i can post it, but can u guys tell me how much boost i can use on this thing? the car was only $3000, is that good?

Wow, a street ported series 5 for only $3k? Not bad. I bet the rebuild and porting cost almost that much. As far as boost, I have no clue, I am a n/a guy. But damn, I wish I could find a deal like you did! Welcome to the forum!!!

with the stock intake, exhaust, and fuel system I wouldn't run over 8psi which is stock. running more with the precat will just put more stress on the turbo and engine and cause more heat. also with the stock fuel system you don't realy want to go over that for fear of running lean. if you want more boost. buy a down pipe, fuel cut defencer, and a bigger fuel pump and run 10psi.

but first do a complete tune up and change all fluids. that is a very good price!!
