1988 SE advice. worth it? GO OR NO

hey guys, i'm new to this forum, and just needed to seek some advice. this guy wanted 1400 for his 1988 rx7 SE with 170k on the whole car. but i said 1000 and he's gonna take it. i'm gonna go check out the car today. but before that i'd like to hear your guys's opinion on whether or not i should consider it.

any help's appreciated. thanks

Go get a compression check done on it at a shop. Like Mazda for 65 bucks and know what you're getting into.

@ the wheels hahaha!! he brought tiny *** tires to make the rims look big! and look at the FTP lense! this dudes a ricer! anyways.. yes id take it for 1k ... then again rx7s are cheaper in cali so i dont know.

go for it, even if the engine is dead, the chassis is work that much

its a really good deal, whether or not it runs well

but first, lose the lame-*** FTP mod, that just looks retarded

I wouldn't pay more than $1200, and that's if the engine is in good running condition and it has no flaws. Find flaws, deduct from there.

Find a Wankel Mechanic

Make sure you have someone in place who knows his Wankel engines.

I have a 1988 GXL, got it for $1800. @ 138K.
I then wasted $1500. over months
at a "import car specialist" doing various fix-its,
including a fuel injector replacement that was not done correctly... Then they just ditched me when it turned out my seals were messed up... they would not rebuild a Wankel.

who is my lifesaver, he is a genius, ethical, and did a great rebuild. These cars are the hottest!
Just plan on spending more $$ to get it perfect.
