1988 fc gxl N/A idle and other problems.

Starts rough sometimes. When its warm i can get it to idle around 750-800 rpm. When you give it throttle it decides to either idle at 1500 until you blip it then it will drop to around 600 and slowly climb to 750 - 1000 rpm. When it idles at 750-800 the cars shakes horribly. When my brother drove it around my lot it struggled for power. I pulled off the air intake hose to the throttle body and found the first (top?) plates stuck flat. Are they supposed to be flat open or closed? I got them loosened so they move now but my main question is where should the be resting at. When i took the air intake hose off the throttle body there was corrosion that may have been causing an air leak, i cleaned it up and resealed it and the car seemed to run better but the idle problem still persisted. I got her to stay at 800 rpm and now she only drops to low idle with out dying, shakes horribly for about 3 second then climbs back to 800 and smoothes out.

Things i have been told to look for are vacuum leaks, stuck throttle plates, and mixture/tps.

Really i just want to know what the inside of a healthy throttle body should look like, and if i am missing any other tests to perform/look into.
It does has aftermarket magnaflows.
Previous owner installed. Some popping sometimes but i was told its normal for anything but stock exhaust?

Other things to look for would be the Air flow meter Flapper being sticky due to corrosion.
I had one that would was stuck solid and had to take it apart and clean it up with a file, dremel and some good silicone lube.

What would cause the rough shake at 750 ish rpm. The engine vibrates the entire car. Also another thing to note is the giy before me removed the ac belt. Would that be still drawing power? Or is it just an anchor at that point.

check the cable tension at the throttle body and see if it moves the butterflies inside the throttle body.
The Throttle body actually has 1 set of butterflies that are used for choke..they are the ones you see when you look at it's open face. They need to be open in order for the car to get proper throttle.

If he removed the AC belt then ya..it's doing nothing..BUT if you go to remove it..Have FUN..some of the components are real Snot bags to fully remove.
