1987 Mazda Championship stickers?
I've looked at 3-4 FCs in hope to buy, and on each of them I noticed a sticker on the bottom left corner of the hatch window reading "1987 Mazda championships" What's up with that? Golf tourney or what?

Its for the manufacturers cup I believe, basically means that the RX-7 was a badass at road racing from 79-88, when in 89 I think mazda switched from using it, and started using the Protege, but I could be wrong.

They were thinking the RX-7 was not selling as many cars as the MX-6 was, because the RX-7 was getting too expensive both to make and to buy.
89 and the S5 cars were the start of the death bells for the RX-7.

No, the Supra had great sales until late 95 early 96.
Mazda's problem was that the RX-7 was too expensive and the quality was goingt down hill with some of the short cuts they took in tha 89+ RX-7s.
You could get into a new FC with $12K in 86, by 90 the cheapest base RX-7 was $18-$19K even with all the short cuts Mazda took on the S5 cars.
But you could get a nice fully loaded MX-6 or even a fully loaded MX-5/Miata for $18K.

Well, I wasn't referring to the same time frame, but eventually they did phase the supra out, which really ticked me off. Same with a lot of other nice cars, like the 240sx, and 3000gt, but life moves on... Wait a minute... Chevy just phased out the Camaro...

GM has always been behind on the times... just when everyone else is bringing out a new generation of sports cars and sports coupes, GM phases theirs out.

yeah, they don't make my beloved cutlass supreme anymore, which used to be a freaking muscle car... Now it's replaced by the Alero, which I'm beginning to see people try to make them like imports...
