150,000 miles on 87 TII motor. Is it possible?

150,000 miles on 87 TII motor. Is it possible?

so im lookin at this semi-running $800 87 TII. The odometer has got 150,000 on it. Is it likely that this is the original motor? I do not know the history of the car at all. But, the body and interior are mint, so Im gonna get it. Only thing is that it floods a little when trying to start. Is that a dying motor or could it be something else?

it could be leaky fuel injectors
or a few other things.
but i think flooding is fixable, overheating=bad though

I believe the series 4 had some kind of a re-occuring problem with flooding. Don't worry about. For 800 you can get a new motor plus a rebuild on the turbos for way under kelly blue book. And since you said the exterior is nice than you are set. Don't over due it though. My friend had a series 4 turbo and the thing doesn't like to be drivin at all. Blown oil ring is what we believe. Gona go in and sit some coffee and make a rebuild week out of it

If you've ever seen 13BT apex seals, they are way beyond the Mazda spec limit.&nbsp We're talking over 1mm-2mm of wear!

If you do get the car, don't be trying to run more boost on it.&nbsp I'll put money you'll kill it within a few weeks.&nbsp I've seen 150k Turbo II's run big exhaust systems and then blow it within a week.

A compression check would confirm my suspicions.

My third t2 I had at had 160,000 on the clock but then I killed it. With a street light pole. I'm now on my Fourth FC.

oh no, im not worried bout the motor at all. im buying it w/ the expectation that it is towed to my home or that the motor will blow up the second i pull in my driveway. i might drive it around "as is" if the compression checks out and it feels good. otherwise I will probably just pull the motor and check it out to see what shape it is in. i am hoping to build a mean motor for it by summer
