13b t2 or 13b n/a.....hmmmm....
okay so here's the deal...i have a 87 FC SE n/a that i'm working on right now...the car is mostly stripped and i pulled the motor out planning on dropping in a j-spec t2 and was planning on trying to make 300 to the wheels. but......i was wondering if i should jus rebuild the n/a and try and see if i could accomplish 300 whp with the n/a. and if so, how?......hmmm...what should i do?
if i go t2, what mods/ engine work could i do to accomplish 300whp? i know the basics such as exhaust, upgrade the turbo, intake, ladi dadi da.....
or if i go n/a, what could i do with the motor to achieve 300 whp?
please help me out. i'm still kinda new at this so bare with me. Any info would help. thanx!!

go turbo man. I have a s4 t2 engine with a s5 t2 turbo. I got my to4 intake side for $160. I ported te wastegate a little, and i got my exhaust turbine clipped for $25. Its great power but I sitll need to fully tune it. That is good bang for buck IMO. Any other turbo upgrade is going to need things like external wasteagtte, manifold, downpipe, lines, etc etc.
300whp woiuld cost you a lot of money and would not be very driveable on the streets like RB eater mentioned

300 is a little much for any N/A let alone a street one. A bridge port is about the biggest port that still has some street drivability and even with that your still not looking at anywhere near 300.
For the T2 option you'll probably need to start by rebuilding the jspec engine for reliability, some fuel system work(pump, injectors, controller with tuneing), a bigger turbo, FMIC, and exhaust.

How much power do 4 port bridged NA engines make? Not with the stock manifold either, with an aftermarket manifold, custom one, carbed etc.
If you do go with a T2, do it right, and build the fuel system first. 300 crank or 300 wheel? For 300 wheel, walbro, rtek 2.0 and at least 4x 720cc injectors. Then a freeflowing exhaust, a good front mount intercooler, and whatever micellaneous parts you will need, hoses, clutch, suspension bushings and parts, wheels and tires, shocks and springs, brakes.
Then for turbo, a T04E should make that much power. You'ld need the turbo, the oil hoses, the manifold (hks cast T4 manifold is the most common) a wastegate(for that much power a 38mm should do) and a dowpipe fabricated by a shop. Oh, and a BOV of course.
Or you could cheap out, and get a BNR, my friend got a stage 1 but the response is terrible though.

A bridge port can get about 250wHP. A peripheral port can get about 300wHP. Both will have a high idle, suck gas like crazy and pollute heavily. That kind of power is much easier on a turbo.
As mentioned be sure to upgrade the fuel system, get some form of tuning and upgrade the BOV before you go that high. Tune conservatively to keep from blowing your motor.

now would a stock rebuild on the t2 support 300whp? or would the seals blow?

The apex seals will only blow if it detonates. A spike in boost (poor wastegate) or a lean fuel air mixture (from not tuning properly or not upgrading the fuel system) will cause detonation. But if you follow the precautions mentioned there shouldn't be any issues. I'd go a little extra rich when tuning to be safe.

I don't think the stock turbo will allow the engine to make 300hp. The S5 will come closer than the S4 but I think you'll need something bigger for 300.

S4 and S5 turbos make just as much power, S5 has twin runners going to the turbo and S4 is collected and has a mechanical twin scroll system. Both turbos are capable of making around 250whp max. Around there, i've seen a little more. The S5 wont give as much boost creep because of the updated dual wastegate design, however S4s can be ported to behave the same way. The S5 also spools slightly faster.

so t2 is the way to go then?? should i s-port or b-port it?
if i were to s-port it what kind of gains am i looking at?? what about the b-port?

besides, 300 is just right for tracking the car....not too much to drift the car....and more than enough to kill hondas.....

A mild street port will be fine for 300. No sense hurting you driveability with a bridge port unless your looking for 400+hp.

Same difference as far as the "negatives" that most people refer to.
You're still going to get the lumpy idle, poor city fuel mileage and low vacuum.
If you are going to bridgeport, don't half-*** it.
There's no reason to even port the engine if 300HP is the goal.
