Unhappy 13b runs better with manual vacuum leak?

86 Mazda gxl nonturbo 5speed rebuild. No mods or system deletions that I am aware of.

Hard Hot Start- doesnt like to start up after WOT, occassionally does but requires a pump of the gas pedal at the right moment. Starts up after I pull the EGI Comp fuse and deflood it, 100% of the time.

Low Idle & Stall- car gets to WOT & after a few miles of driving and stopping, when I have the car in neutral the idle will bog down real low(close to 250-300rpm) & pick back up a few times before eventually stalling. Since hard hot start I have to catch it in time and pop the clutch to not hold up traffic.

Runs Better When I Create Vacuum Leak- idle was dropping real low, I pulled two hoses from the upper intake manifold(almost certain I had them routed wrong) and the idle picked up to about 1100rpm and seems to run fine with the vacuum open, no idle drop and stalling in neutral all of a sudden.

This is the first rotary Ive been around, maybe during the teardown and installation after rebuild, I routed hoses wrong or damaged fuel injectors. This car sure likes to beat me up good. It's hard to do alot of the tests in the Haynes manual when once I shut the car off I cant start it for 30mins.

Wait, you just rebuilt it? Have you gone through the proper break in steps? If not you'll probably be rebuilding again

It was rebuilt 9,000 miles ago. Havent had any problems till recently. I had a mechanic with rotary experience do the rebuild instead of going at it blindly

well even the best can make a mistake, start out with a compression check, cause you are describing alot of symptoms of a dying engine

If compression checks good, could be a thermowax issue, idle adjustments could be needed. TPS adjustment. But for sure, compression check first
