1328 miles on rebuild, suddenly wont start

i just finished puttin down just over 1300 mile on my rebuild and one night she died and wouldnt start up, cranked for like 35 second and had to cut the fuel pump just to get the motor to catch, but now she wont start at all, except this morning after sitting all day and night in the shop bay, she started (but i had to play with the fuel pump switch.also, if i push start she will run but run like crap, and "knock" like timing was waaay off, when i rev up and let it drop down it "knocks" ive checked everything and cant figure it out. heres what ive checked, new plugs , resistance checked wires, both coils working great, tired swapping out ..ECU,resistor pack,CAS, i have the timing dead on fsm specs. new primary injectors and t2 injectors for secondaries.ive swaped out FPR and rail, checked all vacuum plugs, also i have a street port from a local friend of myne very reputable porter/engine rebuilder,i have all emmissions removed , and no rats nest, new fuel filter, electric fan, no power steering or AC.homeade header, to straight pipe, down to dual apex i N1 duals.im at a loss here with no other place to turn please help if you can id appreaciate anything at all. thanks in advance.

Compression still good? Seal could have blown out on you (although unlikely after 1300 miles). Aside from that have you checked fuel pressure? Does the engine flood? Do you have to play with the throttle to get it to start up? Heres a shot in the dark: are the spark plug wires hooked up right (perhaps they got hooked up wrong while you were swapping out components.. Its happened to me before and caused a similar situation)?

If it will start on a push start it almost sounds like bad compression, but with the knocking I'm not sure if thats the case. Hopefully someone else may have some more ideas. Good luck.

ive checked everything twice, and fuel pressure is good, i got hit in the eyes with it(forgot to depressurize the lines) befor i took of the fuel line.also the motor was running realy strong and really great , then suddenly i started getting less lowend and then i hit the big problem, btw i have atkins cryogen treated apex, solid corner seals, fd corner spring, thermal pellet, could i have lost a seal>? just like that?

It wouldn't be the first time it's happened. Compression test it. If you dont have a compression tester just pull out the leading plugs, pull the EGI fuse, and crank the engine over. You should hear 6 even pulses (or really just a bunch of even pulses with no gaps/weak sounding ones). I wouldn't think that you would blow a seal after 1300 miles but its worth checking.

same problem with my 800 mile build.

just started this weekend. i also have atkins seals, great engine builder built this thing for me. im running haltech and it really seemed to me to be bad comp but my numbers are even. maybe its timing but my timing seems to be on. maybe i lost a seal but that would suck pretty bad.

let me know if you figure out your car.

If you get even strong pulses then your compression is probably fine.

ok, any idea where the luod knocking is coming from, to me it sounds like the rear rotor,i dont mind pulling the motor halfway apart, that doesnt scare me , its just that this was my daily driver, and i got a new job and this is making it hard for me, today im going to try a few other things ill let you know if anything helps, and if you figure out anything let me know thanks

Depends what the knocking sounds like. Does it do it while your cranking on the starter or when the engine is running? I had an apex seal that popped out of its slot and made a knocking sound as well. But that engine lost compression on 2 faces completely. Otherwise if it sounds like engine knock while its running it could be really bad timing (even though you already checked for it it may still be off for one reason or another).

Shot in the dark.. Did you try swapping coils out with spares (if you have them).

yeah it only knocks when the motor is droping from a rev up, also i had the car running once after push starting it, and i check the coild for spark and they seems exactly like my buddies coils, check them both even resistance checked my wires.i got it to start this morning ,and it ran like crap, when i let of the gas it did the whole popcorn srt4 sound but not as fast, and has no power above 4 it goes but doenst make power like before, i have a question is it posoble to put the crank sensor gear pully in the front cover on wrong like backwards? if im correct the way its cut makes it fine both ways right?ive tried skipping a tooth on the CAS to see if that changes my timing to any better, cuz no matter how i set it at fsm , it runs like ****.
