13 Sec. N/A; has it been done?

After a long talk with a person on AOL who seemed to know something about rotarys, I was e-mailed a website for a S5 'vert. On this page the owner lists his mods (streetport, intake, exhaust, S-AFC, etc) nothing too special... but claims to run high 13's. I find this VERY hard to believe seeing as he has done no weight reduction to get rid of some of the 'vert's bulk.

On RX-7.com, there is an N/A that claims to be running 13.9's/ I've seen this S4 on Cardomain.com and I'm sure if you've looked over RX-7's on the site, you have too (the FC w/ 50+ pictures, custom *ghey* paintjob, large stereo). Full interior, regular mods... in no way a 13 second car.

My question is...

Is there a FULL-BODIED 13-SECOND 6-PORT N/A out there?? Someone with PROOF please. :no comments about Jimmy here: If there is, what are their listed mods and whatnot? The closest I know of is Roy James and his (I believe) 14.2

Anyone know of someone faster?

Give me until summer when my engine is built, I *may* hit 13s, thats my goal anyway. But in all honesty Ive never seen any proof of a 13sec 6-port N/A. Im sure its possible, but just not very practical or cost-effective. For the money that I am putting into my N/A, I couldve bought a T2, and probably made it run 13s. This is the reason you dont see alot of decently quick N/As. But I am trying to be different

You're not alone, that's why I asked. That, and I think loudazz7 and the 'vert are full of ****.

Yea, I highly doubt a vert could hit 13s N/A, and Ive seen loudazz7's car and mod list, and would highly doubt it also. Ive seen quite a few people's sigs, and claims of 14.3, 14.5, times like that, on a stock port engine. So Im pretty confident once Im done that I will be able to break 13s. I dont care if its a 13.9999, and I only do it one time, I'll still be happy

Can you use N20? A guy on here GLHS ran a 15.3 in his Na with a shitty launch. Could break into the 14s with some good tires. With N20 maybe 13s. But his car is stripped too

Mephis claims to have a mid 13 second NA...of course he also claims he's literate.

Didn't he just buy his RX7? He has been on this board asking the stupidest questions that anyone with a little mechanical aptitude could figure out by doing a little research. He pissed off Aaron so bad in one of his threads, Aaron refuses to reply to any of his posts now, it was pretty funny.

Mephis couldn't even figure out how to install a cold air box. I think his car is also auto trans. equipped and an S5, so I highly doubt it is stripped or in the 2400 pound range.

One reason one might invest in a fast NA would be reliability and gas mileage . . . some street ports can allow 25mpg freeway driving if their engines are kept under 3800 rpm and driven gently. But the bang for the buck comes with turbos . . . but sometimes the "bang" is the wrong kind: detonation and a F\/<K3|> up engine!

Truthfully most people seem to get better gas milage from their T2s than N/As. Im guessing this is bacause you dont have to rev to 6k+ rpm to get any kind of decent power Reliability could be a reason though. Im investing into my N/A becasue I really like my car, have put alot of work into it already, and like to be different. I think having a high 13s N/A would just be cool as hell. Sure Id still get beat by even a moderately modded T2, but thats ok. I like to push the envelope, try and do things most people think is stupid or unpractical And yea, no auto N/A FC with minimal mods is even going to hit 14s, much less 13s

Ask the guys in PR, AU, and NZ if they know of any 13 second NA's. It's not too rare to find guys running Peripheral Port engines in their street cars there..

A friend of mine ran a 14.3 with his 1st gen, with an 86 stock port motor in it, ingnition, weber carb setup, headers to single mufflers, and some other goodies I'm forgeting, and this was with the stock diff, now he is running 4.88s and geting summint racing seats only 6 pounds each in the rear and should be able to break into the 13s he is going to the track this friday so I will know for sure, but I dunno if this counts.......

if u count first gens with 2 or 4 port bridged engines..sure..... even 12's

as far as 6 port... i dont think so... it has to be big street port and bolts on .... maybe even fuel mods to be on the safe side.

ive seen a few 90 gtu's(not GTUs) with holleys and big street ports 88 engines with (turboII housings therefore becoming 4 port) do 13.8's... hope this helps

We'll see when I go to the track. Im not making any claims right now though. All of the magical 13 sec n/a's who cant ever seem to get to a dyno or trak drive me crazy.

I believe his best with the PP was low 14's at like 105 mph. Can you say no traction?
