well as the title reads will a 12A transmission work on a 13B? i am asking because i cant afford a new transmission but there is a perfect 12A at the junkyard with low miles and a tight shifter. i was just wondering if the are interchangable?

The qualified answer is 'sorta.'

The long answer is yes, if you change the tailshaft housing over from your FC, and bearing in mind that your gear ratios will be lower (higher cruising RPM) and the FB tranny isn't made to take too much power - so if you drive it a little hard, you'll soon kill it. You'll also, IIRC, have to change where the locating dowels are on the bellhousing/rear housing of the engine.

Otherwise, given tailshaft swap and other caveats, yes, it will bolt right up.
