sorry elnots I do not believe in clowning around. I went WAY out of my way to buy as many American made parts as possible (had to have hurley seals) so the color scheme is definately a statement. I am a union guy and the crap I take for owning a Japanese car is ridiculous. I try to explain that if America would produce a rotary engine I would buy it (yes Ford owns a good percent of Mazda) but no one in the union world supports it so I decided to spend most of my money in America because I believe in it and to shut them up. I figured a good way to make the statement was in color.

OK got the engine bay pic loaded up I had to pull the polished stainless panel off the firewall to rerun the wiring behind it and make a new one since I wont be having the wiring harnesses run through the firewall so I dont need the two holes for them. Hope to have it back together in about a month. follow the link in the signature to the new pics

wow you spent $35k on a FC, I like FCs I have one so I don't want to flame you but that's the biggest waste of money imho. More power to you for doing what you want I just can't see the point of lots of that work, polishing the tranny, RHD makes no sense..

not here to be the fastest or best handling just wanted it to be the best it could be. It started off small and just snowballed into this. I bet if people out there actually added up what they spent I am not in the top ten of how much people have spent on an FC.

I had a Chance to get a rhd front clip for $200 but after realizing how much heat that would run through the entire area, I changed my mind. I hope the heat shield you use isnt too thick. If it were me I wouldve saved my self about 15,000 grand import a cheap fc and swap the parts directly to the tenth chasis. My buddy finished his 240RHD. Ive taken it out a few times, all i gotta say is hope youre left handed. Ive yet to meet a novice right hander who doesnt sell the car, or wanna crush the car afterwards. Hell, i know a guy selling a RHD 3rd gen for 20,000. But im in tx so everything is easier here.

good job. it looks really clean. i'm not particular about clowns but man the paint is the only thing i would change if i had that kind of recourses. my buddy here has an r32... not only do cops go to the wrong side of the car, they stand there for 20 min trying to figure out what it is and learning stick all over again is fun!

The color scheme is not my cup of tea. Sort of reminds me of this 10AE car:

White on the undercarraige? Do/will you actually drive this thing?
Hats off to you nonetheless.

Wow... You've made me a believer I must say... I agree the paint is a little much, but it seems you're not cutting any corners... It's nice to see ideas turn into results on here...

word. yum on the RHD.
i did the first RHD into a GC8 impreza documented in the states, was pondering the same thing for my S4 Vert - how close is the firewall, is it a cut and weld like S13 or honda, or is the same firewall used RHD and LHD like a subaru?
my stupid subaru.

yes technically not mirrored because that would put the clutch on the right and the gas on the left. More like.... copy and paste. Iceblue did a cut and weld on his where I just did the make more holes in mine and cover the old ones up. His will look more factory. That is why I made the stainless block off for my firewall (to hide the patches and dress up the bay)

Passing life by
I am going to do another and swap the whole firewall. Give my input on that also. Maybe if someone comes up with the $ I can do some for people who knows. I want to try it all ways like yours mine and whole firewall. See what I run into and how it works out. Of course the price would be different to cut holes then swap the firewall.
Yea we both suffer from an **** disorder.

MENDOZA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Happy Belated birthday, truly insane (in a good way.) It's nice to see someone dedicated all this time energy and mostly money :P into retestoring an FC. Viva la Rotary.

Thanks Chemix, just finished putting in the amps, power distribution fuse blocks, on board computer, DVD rw, and if you havent seen the 14" LCD monitor that extends from the GC that is on a different thread. I will post pics of multimedia soon. I get the box back on monday that holds the 2- JL 12W7 subs just dropped it off at the upholstry guy yesterday.
