10th AE, what do you think?

I found this on craig's list, and though I've been looking at Vert's I'd consider this.

http://seattle.craigslist.org/tac/car/361992852.html

I talked to the guy, he said his buddy has a car lot and someone traded it in. He thought he could clean it up and make some extra $'s. (Not what I was hoping for)
It came out of Canada originally and has 138,000 Kilo's on it (about 85K miles).
Thinks it has an exhaust leak near the turbo.
$5500 seems kind of high to me, though it looks nice in the ad.
I would definitely take it to Jeff's Automotive Service for an inspection before I bought it.

If its in good condition then it doesn't seem bad. You should offer him $5000 cash though nomatter what. Tell him that the exhaust leak will cost you money.

Its better then some of the ones that I have seen here in Colorado. One was going for $9000 in good condition with 80k on it and it was not even a 10AE.

It will since its an S4 and probably has a cracked manifold or a blown gasket.

That being said it looks clean for a 10thAE......It appears to even have all of the paint still - thats a plus

I'd haggle with him and depending on the compression numbers, I'd say you've got a nice little find there.

I happen to know more about this car then the current owner my brother is the one who traded it in. The exhaust leak is most likly a cracked manifold but the car has an s5 engine an turbo. The only real problem it has was it didnt always wanna start when hot. $5500 is way to much for it tho unless hes cleaned up my lazy as brothers work he sold it to the lot for $2500 and it looks like the only thing they fixed was the big primer spot that was on the side.I'd offer $4500 for it.

OK, tell me more! Did he get it out of Canada? Did he beat the snot out of it?
I don't want to buy someone else's trouble for that amount.
It has an S5 engine in it? What's the story there?
By the way, THANK YOU for saying something! It's always nice to know the history on a car!

well it is from canada i think the owner before my brother broght it here he didnt beat the new engine at all was an old rebuild with about 35k on it when i got it never put it into any of my cars so i sold it to him when his crapped out its just the s5 short block an turbo still uses s4 sensors, etc. it was never to much of a problem car the emissins are removed and i think it needs a new AWS or you could just remove the whole warm-up system theres also aftermarket water temp an oil pressure guages in the glove compartment

Sounds about like a $3500 car to me.
