10th AE 88 RX-7 Turbo II
My neighbor is selling his for 5k. He just had back surgery so he isn't very confortable in it anymore. He just got a brand new motor in it (same motor that was orginally in the car), and the body has 87k miles on it. There isn't any damage to the car, and no signs of any bondo or anything. No rust underneath the car or anywhere that I could see. Interior and Exterior is emmaculate. First I was wondering if this car was something worth picking up, and second how easy is it to find aftermarket parts for this car? And what kind of motor comes in the Turbo'd 10th AE?

Id offer him 4500 if he takes it great, if not pay the 5000. pretty fair deal if in the ondition you say its in. Parts arent that hard to find unless rare like previously stated

Are you prepared for owning an 80s turbo sports car? Where do you live? Are there any trustworthy shops that can fix it?
I'm not concerned about the purchase, I'm concerned about what happens when you are actually owning the car. What kind of experience do you have working on fuel injected cars?

Why wouldn't I be prepared to own an 80's sports car? I live in Houston, and I don't know anything about Mazda shops. I know their are some good shops in Austin. And When I own the car I was plannin on doing a lil work to it and getting it to around 300 hp to the wheels. I've got mostly expierence working on a b16a1 and b18c1. Just gotta do some research on Mazda motors.

There is the potential for alot of problems with these cars. With you're inexperience those problems could lead to other problems. Just letting you know what you're getting into. The turbo models can get costly very quickly but with enough patience, I'm sure you'll do fine. It sounds like a great deal.

There's a lot of little stuff you need to learn about the rotary, especially about the emissions controls and vacuum routing

i have a 10AE and if it didnt already have 135k miles and dents/trashed interior, i wouldn't have modded mine.
That car just really needs to be treated exactly how it has, hardly driven and garage kept. in 20-30 years, that car will be worth twice that easily, if kept under 100k miles.
If you want a turbo rx-7 to enjoy, like i said find one already modded and go from there.
