second... all of my friends cars mash over 140-160... so dont tell me this rx7 cant do it... my moms chrysler lebaron hits like 135 with ease... and its an 89....

My friends T2 hits over 150 cause he raced my roomates talon and chewed him up at high speeds... go home.

actually, putting your hand on the outside of the wheel where its supposed to be will provide better control. with your hand on/near the center of the wheel, it requires very little movement to make the wheel do a full half turn. next time your in the car look at it. how far does your arm move when the hand is on the spoke to turn the car? how far does it move when your hand is near the center..

anyhow. ive had massive aero problems with my 86na above 100, so i dont do it. you can really feel the liftoff.

My experience is that when the car shakes at high speeds, usually it is
1) bad alignment
2) tires too wide (like me, i have 225 tires, it goes into ALL groves of the road =)

my car does that too, i guess it is a combination of both and also suspension too hard =)

but yeah, i do feel the steering being too sensitive at times =)
but i am not going to try parallel parking without PS in San Francisco =D so i'm keeping this baby......

Huh. I've had my 88 SE up well over 100 for extended periods of time (on the track, of course), and it *never* felt floaty - it just sort of squatted and went faster. My previous car (Dodge Dynasty) got really floaty above 85 or so, so I know what it feels like, and the '7 doesn't feel like that at all.

FWIW, the top speed of the S4 NAs tends to be in the 135mph range (redline in 4th). They don't have enough power to go faster in 5th. The speedo tends to be rather far off at that speed - mine is off by 5mph at 80 (GPS shows 75 mph while the speedo is at 80) and it's linear, so there's almost 10mph difference up at 140-ish. Also, I don't like to stay above 6000 RPM for extended periods of time due to water pump cavitation.

NO way in hell a stock fc (N/A) got to anywhere near 147mph. My slightly modified N/A gets to 125 at redline and i have a taller tire than stock. So maybe 130 at most.....

Oh wait, he never stated if it was in MPH or KMH

at high rpms, the pump isnt too efficient...it causes air pockets behind itself....or osmething like that.

I have always liked this argument....mostly because the conservative drivers will never believe how fast their cars are...and the ricers think that they are faster than reality.

stock top speed for an s4 NA is 137 mph. if your car is stock, your top speed will be somewhat lower than this, depending on condition. A highly modified NA can go quite a bit faster than this. I got mine up to 147 a couple of times...150 once. I also would sometimes drive at 140 for about 5 miles or so...just for the hell of it. I have verified these speeds against other cars.... and at 100 mph, i am my speedo is off by 1, according to the little cop radar stand things. it is also very close according to a few highway patrol officers, damnit.

a TII is capable of muhc higher speeds, and a modified one can possibly reach the mechanical max...which is 198 IIRC. mechanical max for both NA and TII are right about the same...basically 200 if you had the power and overrevved a little.

I recently had my TII at about 135 or so (deserted highway late at night, no traffic) and it felt damn stable, it was also still accelerating pretty nicely when sanity took hold and I backed off.

The was I was always told to hold the wheel is with my hands at 9 & 3 o'clock with thumbs wrapped around the spokes, this is from my dad who was an SCCA FV driver for thirty years.

Second, I dont even race my 7... yeah, if a riced out civic pulls up next to me... ill run his ***.... but I drift from 10 am goin to work, to 10 pm gettin off.... Call me rice but you can grab your chopsticks and eat my dick.

I already said my bad on the speed difference.... now get over it.

I've always liked this argument too, mainly because most people have little or no idea how much power is actually required to raise a car's max speed.

stock top speed for an s4 NA is 137 mph. if your car is stock, your top speed will be somewhat lower than this, depending on condition. A highly modified NA can go quite a bit faster than this. I got mine up to 147 a couple of times...150 once.
Firstly, where does 137mph come from? Most people here seem to quote magazine figures of 120-130mph. Secondly, are you aware that the laws of physics state that to increase a car's top speed from 130mph to 150mph 15% you need to increase the power produced at that particular rpm by 54%? That's ~245hp from an engine that most people can't get much over 200 from...

chill out, *******, and go home and screw your sister some more. i never referred to you. in fact, until now, i didnt even remember that you had posted, or what you said. I dont give a **** how you drive. I simply stated my observations from a whole bunch of these threads that pop up every once in a while.

You, sir, need to get out more, and learn what its liek to talk to people. As in, dont fly off the ******* handle when nobody even directed anything at you. That being said, what is your problem? Why so defensive? I mean ****...you said you drove your car faster than it actually can go...but your speedo was wrong..honest mistake, nobody blames you. so where does all this cussing and moaning come in? Nobody expects you to know everything about your car, thats what this forum is for, but of you wanna stay here long, you better calm the hell down and learn how to get along on it.

anyway, **** you and have a nice day. i'm out.

Not many people know what i do for a living and Im not going to spell it out but one while patroling the South Taranaki Highways all NZ boys will know this area of NZ, locked on radar a S5 doing 257 km per hour, thats about 160 mph. I actually know of this vehicle and it is basically stock apart from the usual bolt ons and speed screw from back of dash removed.

i dont understand why so many ppl on the forums are so quick to judge you if you say you went 100mph+...yea you may be endangering yourself and possibly others, but you know that before you do it...and why do ppl act so innocent i dont expect that any of you drive your rx7s completely conservative day in and day out...i for one have switched lanes with my speedo at and above 100 which is prb. like 90-95 in actuality...yes it was stupid, and yes ill prb do it again...i guess that makes me a terrible person...i would never do something so dangerous and intentional that the probability of me hurting someone else is very high, but i do push it every now and then and i know my boundaries....its good to know your boundaries but not be completely stupid...nobody is perfect....also, i have seen middle age yuppies drivin porsche carrerras and ferraris( very few) doin well over 120 on the turnpike and nobody calls them ricers...
