1 more time.....(short shifters)

k, im taking the plunge on the purchase of one of these units. Ive done my searching and come up with good info but the selection and views on different units seems to vary.
so i guess it boils down to MazdaRacing, MazdaTrix, Higgi's, MazdaSpeed and C's......... I am leaning toward the Mazdaracing unit but have heard some bad stuff about their customer service and reliablilty of sending **** out. Next would be either MazdaTrix and Higgi's....the Mazdaspeed unit is more cah than i care to drop and it seems like the C's is hard to come by.
What are your guys thoughts?

It sounds like the only unit you didn't say something negative about was Higgi's.. that should tell you something

Other than that I have no input.

MazdaRacing

what are people's views on the MazdaRacing unit......from searching the very few people I have seen that use it say it's the greatest reduction in throw. What are people's views about the company and their business practices....i remember hearing some negative stuff about them.....
I like the price of the Mazdaracing unit and I like the billet shifter that can be ordered with it.....i think it comes with the new bushings too...

I have the mazdaracing short sifter. The shifter is great and it came with all new bushings. I didn't have a problem with there customer service, infact I thought it was great. When I gave them a call they gave me all the info I needed and they even helped me out with some blow off valve questions. It came around a week, I can't remember but I know I didn't wait to long for it. It came well boxed and no damage to the shifter and parts.

It has been about a year since I have gotten anything through them though.

I recently installed the Mazdatrix shifter, very nice, I believe higgis is about 60 cheaper but dont know if it comes with all the bushings like mazdatrix. easy to install and the website has a video on install....make sure you get the series you need because shift ***** are different sizes from s4 and s5

You almost can't go wrong with all the companies of which you've listed, but C's is the one that I find coveted. Really nice short shifter, its in my friends car and I love it.

I just recently installed the mazdatrix shifter. I can't say anything about the other shifters, but this one is great.

When you do get a shifter, if you have a choice between S4 and S5, and you plan on getting an aftermarket ****, get the S5 shifter. They should be the same, except for the thread for the ****. The S5 has many more **** choices (same as FD and miata), but I couldn't find one for the S4 that wasn't "universal fit." I bought a voodoo **** and had to drill and tap it to fit my S4 shifter.

I had the mazdatrix shifter, tore up a bunch of transmissions. The throw is so short on these if you try to shift quickly your just going to tear up the transmission. Kevin landers has a C's shortshifter that he's getting ready to sell. You can get him at hypntyz@charter.net

The Lever moves alot faster then the synchro's can handle. It's like ripping through every gear when just normal shifting. With the mazdatrix shifter it's a "click" and it's gone from 1st to second. At least with a normal shifter you can sort of ease the shifter through the gears.

you just don't have to bang it through the gears with the short throw, if you bang it through the gears you will put the syncros through hell and likely start grinding during shifts.

The short throw just enables you to shift quickly without the effort of banging the shifter, just shift smooth and calm, nothing crazy, and it will be perfectly fine but quicker!

I have the mazdaspeed short shifter and I have to say it is awesome. First of all the stick shifter is very solid doesnt feel loose or anything when shifting gears and you get a nice race feel throws because of how tight everything is. Id highly recommend this unit but for the shift **** that you can get it sucks after some use the carbon fiber piece in the middle tends to get all loose and make a stupid vibrating noise which gets really annoying but other than that no complaints on the short shifter.

Sent an inquiry to MazdaRacing

about purchasing a shift kit from them and a billet shift **** and havent heard a peep from them for two weeks.....these guys are GREAT business people.....was really wanting to order these pieces but the lack of initiative to even answer an inquiry has me seriously considering not ordering from them.

Most people have trouble contacting them, at least thats what I have mainly heard. I ordered mine from mazdatrix one night online. The next morning I got a call from them to confirm my order and that my shifter is being shipped first thing.
