1 gen or 2nd gen racer

Ok guys I have a first gen and second gen rx7. Would one should I put more time into making faster? From what I heard the first gen stock can keep up with the convertible because of the weight. Also where can I find a cold air intake for my 2nd gen?

The 2nd gen comes with a CAI stock.

It will be easier (IMO!!) to make a first gen fast then to make an american spec 'vert fast.

Real race cars are not necessarily faster, but rather they have the correct components required for their racing class. The question is which car can you adapt to a particular race class with the least amount of trouble. Therefore, the question to you is what kind of racing? IT, EP, Solo Stock, Solo Street Prepared, Solo Prepared, Solo Modified, etc? Once you have a goal, then you need to read the class rules to see how close your cars come to meeting them, and what it will take to make the proper modifications.

A GSL-SE will easily beat both series of convertible RX-7 in the American non-turbo specification.

As far as handling, my 2nd gen does it a lot better than my 1st gen did...Which is why the 1st gen died due to an unfortunate high-velocity impact with 2 large trees...Ahh well, life goes on...
