*sigh* Rust hole in passenger's side underbody

After my car sat for a good long time in the snow, I changed the oil today and noticed a nice hole in the underside of car on the passenger's side. It's about 1"x1/2".

Is there any way to fix this? As I understand it, this is generally Really Bad and basically means my car is now scrap metal.

where exactly is it? Is it in a area that is just floorboard or is it a structual area. ? If it is floorboard sheetmetal, any "good" fabricator should be able to make a patch panel for it. It ALL depends on where it is. But one rust spot is not the end of the world. It is a 16 year old car, it just has character
