*crunch* when shifting from 1st to 2nd

Hey everyone, when i shift from 1st to 2nd above 4500 rpms, there is a fairly loud CRUNCH that occurs. it sounds like i am grinding the gears, but the clutch is pushed all the way in. what could be causing this? worn synchros? i plan on changing the tranny fluid with synthetic, but is there anything else that could be wrong? could my tranny be going out?!?

thanks....

worn synchros. synth will help it last longer but on fast shifts it will still crunch. redline helped mine a ton.

Yea, it's the syncros. Once the syncros are worn, tranny rebuilt/replacement coming in the future to get it back to normal.
