the $300 89 RX-7 wont start...
I went and looked at one today. It was a GXL. Automatic, everything worked except the motor. I think it might just need the ATF treatment, because it was sitting for a long time. It is in pretty good shape with just a little surface rust and no dents. The drivers side window was broken and the leather seat was torn. Anyways, How woudl i go about performing the ATF trick to it? I think i will buy it even if I can't get it to work, if push comes to shove I can part it out, and if not I will either swap the motor and tranny for another 13b N/A and a 5 speed or a Camaro LT1 and a 6 speed.

I had the same problem with mine, check the fuel line to make sure it is getting fuel. My rx had been sitting so long that the bad gas rusted the fuel pump. I replaced it and it fired right up, I got mine for free and it only has 47,000 miles on it. Oh, and if this works, be sure to get all the bad gas out of cuz itmade mine flood forever and it fouls your spark plugs real quick.

yea, do a compressoin check first. if its good, go on ahead and check the fuel system.
if its LOW on compression, squirt some ATF into the spark plug holes (lower holes only), crank, repeat. and crank. and then crank more. if it STILL wont start. check the fuel system.

Banned. I got OWNED!!!
I like the gxl the best. IT rides nice, handles well, has decent wheels stock, and steers like a dream. I love the speed sensing power steering on the gxl's. Dont think theyre faster though.
Buy the car!
Ill tell you how to start it.

I think he means a gxl vs a gtu or something(gtu was the base in 89-91), which it is not. But yes, the 89-91 motor was faster than the 86-8 motor due in part to ALL the above listed mods.
