What is this pull cable?

Yesterday I spent some of the day installing my exhaust, planning how my electronics will mount, and de-ricing my car. Previous owner must have watched the fast and the furious and thought he could "do-it-yourself".

Anyways, what is this pull cord? It looks like it might go to an air vent or something. Car is an s4 t2. Is it possible that one of the electronics died, so he rigged this up to open the vents? Of course, it was just dangling in the open hole along with an unbolted radio that would kill some one if you got hit.

That isn't stock. Looks like some bullshit he added, and I have no idea why.

Check under the passenger side for an ejector seat system.

Tough to tell since it's not stock. If it goes to the driver's side of the center hvac, it could be for the air mix motor to select hot/cold. If it goes over to the blower on the passenger side, probably vent/reciculate. Maybe rigged up a choke since the PO wasn't keen on EFI stuff?

Pull cable feels like it is attached to the rod on the copper pipe shown in picture. If you stick your head under the steering wheel and look up towards the center console vents, that is how I took the photo.

I think that opens and closes the water supply valve to the heater core.

What would be the purpose of this?

The valve regulates how hot the core gets.

Heater control on the Logicon probably failed, and the owner McGyver'd his own solution to make it work.

Heat for the winter time lol. That's a lot of engineering for a cheap replacement part.
