For those that dont go in the SE forums ... my T2 Vert is totalled
I keep getting a lot of PM and people asking so I figure I'll post in the second gen forum as well.
Well on the way home from rhe sonic meet i was cruising around 70mph. There was a construction zone ahead but i thought nothing of it and began to slow down. Unfortunately the zone was righ after a curving upward part (oakland park southbound on 95)..... as soon as i got over the hill i knew i was fucked. I dropped the car into third ... tried pumping the brakes. I was able to avoid a driver side impact .. but i nailed the other car at around 60 on my passenger side. I instantly put the car on the driver side and slid for about 50feet then the car flipped instantly curshing the windshield and windshield support .... my head grounded into the street for about 200 feet before i managed to figure out that i needed to get it up befoe i lost m head. So i sacrificed my left hand and pulled my head up to tuck it beneath the door line. My face was 3" from the ground at this point .. and I could feel all the gravel and glass kicking up and embedding into my head.
I came to a hault after sliding about 400 feet and hitting the median. My rx7 is totalled, the othefr man is okay, thank god! I suffered from multiple lasserarions and it is a mircale I am still alive as you will all see in the pictures i put up later. I thought the car was going to blow up and only had about a 5" opening to crawl out of (between the ground and the opening in the door). I thought the car was about to blow up so I ripped the seatbelt off and somehow managed to get the door open, even though all 2500 pounds of the car was resting on it.
About 10 of the nicest people everr helped me and made sure I was okay. One guy took his shirt off and held it on my head to make sure I didnt lose much more blood.
The only thing that saved my life was wearing a seatbelt and pulling my head up/tucking it beneath the door line.
Please, if you have a cconvertible, I urge you to buy a functioning roll bar!
I have 5 staples in my head, road rash all over, and a small concussion. I lost about 1.5 pints of blood on the road. But I will be fine.
And before you ask, yes I am parting out the entire car.

Well i am glad you are ok, and i hope you have enough parts left to rebuild another vert. It looks like you were extremely lucky.
I dont quite get the story about how you crashed though, you came up over a curved hill too fast, then you went sideways i guess?

**** guess should have read last section of the post. anyway how is the fmic tubing? the fmic itself still looks usable correct? also can i get a pic of engine bay. i might wanna get some parts out of it. thanks
lol, he already said he's goiing to part some stuff out, jeez...
Anyway its nice to hear that you are ok. Also, i think you should just get another vert, transfer all ur junk from the totalled one and just get a roll cage LOL

God damn man, glad you're ok anyway. I dont really quite get how the car ended up upside-down either... you clipped a stopped car, that sent you sideways, and then the car got tripped and ended up upside down?
Either way, you planning on getting another 7, or have any other car plans?

Everytime I see those pics I cringe. Definitly investing in a roll bar for my convertible. I just can't imagine what it's like doing the "shiny side slide" without one. You are one lucky dude.
grand national or 300zx. and i just had a lor of momentum built up when i hit the car so the force of hitting him sent me side ways and then the car began to lean and then eventually fell on the top near the end
thats just wow. its amazing and very fortunate that you made it out alright.
I hate to ask for parts at a time like this but pm me and let me know if you're willing to ship that driver's seat to socal.

Whoa.
That sucks man. What a shame. makes me glad to own coupes.
But seriously, your rx7 rolled over at 60 mph? I didn't think these cars could flip over, mine just slide sideways. Must have caught some air from the impact or something to get you up on your side like that. jeez.
I'm glad to see your still with us. Please post pics of your damage to yourself.

lol the drop tops are good for those anyhow glad your ok
hood was sold
i found the last picture of my convertible before the accident ... this picture was taken exactly 5 minutes before the accident, as I was going to post and ask if it was normal to be running this hot (which I now know it was)

thats awful man. the car was just gorgeous. i'll buy your floor mats though
it appears that you were wearing your seatbelt. i'm a police officer and 99% of the traffic fatalities that i have seen were because the person was not wearing a seatbelt. if you hadn't you may have been thrown from the vehicle or crushed underneath it in the roll over. glad to hear that you're ok though. what are your plans for the car? are you going to invest in another 7? how well do you feel the 7 held up in saving your life? how well do you think the car held up in the accident?

i actually thank god the car is as solid as it is. If you look carefulyl at the front, you can see how well the car took hitting someone at around 70mph. For not having any airbags I also did not have any broken ribs or bruises arodnu that general region.
For being such a small car, it built like a tank. But when you have th top down and you flip it ... thats another story
